To promote the development of good animal care and to raise dog and cat food donations, Jen Matheny is sponsoring a drive at Midway Elemen-tary School March 3-14.

Matheny is a first grade teacher at the school and volunteers with the Tangi Humane Society.

First-graders will be competing to see who can bring in the most dog and cat food. The winner will get an ice cream party.

Each class will spend a day learning proper pet care, and puppies will be brought to school for students to pet.

The donated pet food will go toward feeding the many animals that Randy Stegall and the society tend to.

“They are going to go crazy,” Matheny said. “Right now it’s all they talk about.”
