Roland family requests charitable donations

The family of former Southeastern head football coach Dennis Roland has requested that donations be made in Roland's memory to three charitable groups in lieu of flowers.

One of them is the Fellowship of Christian Athletes of Georgia. Dontaions may be sent to P.O. Box 7470, Athens, Ga., 30601.

Donations can also be made to the American Cancer Society by going online to https://www.cancer.org/docroot/DON/DON_0.asp.

Also, donations can be made to Gideon International at PO Box 140800, Nashville, Tenn., 37214, or by going online to https://www.gideons.org/payment/donationsmemorial.asp

Roland, 51, died Tuesday morning after a long battle with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. The wake will be held Friday from 6-9 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home, located at 122 W. Dykes St. in Cochran, Ga. (zip code 31014; phone: 1-800-934-6610).

The feneral has been scheduled for Saturday at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Cochran, located at 101 S. Second Street (zip code 31014).
